Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasized that the Government shall immediately recall the bill on restricting the privileges for veterans and victims of Chornobyl disaster (Reg. No.7562) submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. M. Tomenko reminded that the given bill actually liquidates the system of assistance for the vulnerable groups, and its adoption might turn this scheme into the system manually operated by the Cabinet of Ministers.
M. Tomenko reminded that he appealed to the President regarding amorality of cutting the privileges for the Great Patriotic War and Afghan veterans. However, neither the President nor the Government had made any steps to recall the given bill and explain the position of the authorities.
Still, the Deputy Chairman reminded that newly-adopted Resolution on Recommendations of the Parliamentary Hearings "On Modern State and Topical Tasks to eliminate the Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster" includes item 10 that obliges to recall the bill on state guarantees of enforcement of court decisions (Reg. No.7562) submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Thus, the Government shall immediately recall the given bill restricting rights of war veterans, Afghan veterans, victims of Chornobyl disaster and other vulnerable groups.
